The Main building
The main hotel is an “L” shaped building, built in 1984. The building varies between one, two and three storeys, depending upon the section. The building has approximately 8,320 square feet, on the main floor, 4,917 square feet on the second floor and 757 square feet on the third floor for a total area of 13,994 square feet, more or less.
The building is wood frame construction, on a solid rock foundation. At the time of the reconstruction, the old foundation was removed and replaced with a more stable rock foundation. The design of the building is such that it resembles the original hotel. Exterior finish is painted horizontal board siding, with false facades on the street elevations, and corrugated metal on the other sides. The roof is shed style, with metal decking. Windows are double hung wood units, on the upper floors, and large six pane casements units on the main floor. The doors are all solid wood core units.
The interior of the hotel has been demised to include a lobby and retail/ liquor store, 20 rooms, a 96 seat bar, a 144 seat tavern, and a 55 seat restaurant, and commercial kitchen.
The lobby area has carpeted floors, a combination of tongue in groove wood wainscoting and prefinished wall panels, and a painted tin ceiling. The lobby area contains the front desk, a manager’s office and the retail/liquor store. Lighting is by incandescent ceiling fan fixtures.
There are two washrooms located adjacent to the lobby. Finish includes ceramic tile floors, tile walls, an acoustic tile T-bar ceiling, and fluorescent lighting. The women’s washroom has three sinks and three toilet stalls, while the men’s has three sinks, three urinals and one toilet stall. Each washroom has one stall which is for handicapped use.
The retail/liquor store area has carpeted floors and prefinished wall panels. There is shelving and upright coolers within. A cottage style door separates the store from the lobby area.
The 20 rooms, which are all located on the second and third floors, have carpeting, prefinished wall panels, and an acoustic tile, T-bar ceiling. Heating is provided by electric baseboard heaters. Rooms are equipped with television, bed (s) and dresser. 17 rooms have a 4 piece bathroom and 3 rooms have a 3 piece bathroom. The hallways all have carpeting, prefinished wall panels, and an acoustic tile T-bar ceiling.
The bar area seats 96 people. Finish includes carpeting, a combination of wood wainscoting and painted tin walls, and a painted tin ceiling. Lighting is provided by wall mounted incandescent fixtures. The bar is air conditioned and has ceiling fans. The oak bar is equipped with a brass foot rail, and non-slip rubber flooring. A pop dispenser, liquor dispenser and several small beer coolers are situated within the bar. A large walk in cooler is located behind the bar.
The tavern seats 144 people and has a stage area and dj booth. Finish includes carpeting, a combination of wood wainscoting and prefinished wall panels, and a stipple ceiling. Lighting is provided by hanging incandescent fixtures. The tavern is equipped with a wall oil monitor heater, air conditioning and smoke eater. The bar is a combination of wood and painted tin panels. The bar is equipped with a pop dispenser, liquor dispenser and upright beer coolers. There are two washrooms, a men’s with 3 urinals, 1 toilet and 2 sinks and a women’s with 3 toilets and 3 sinks. Washroom finish is tile and linoleum flooring and walls and a T-bar ceiling. The tavern is fully functional as a separate entity, as there is no direct access to the rest of the hotel.
The restaurant seats 55 people. The room adjoins the bar area, air conditioned, and is similarly finished, with carpeting, wainscoting and tin walls and tin ceilings. A portion of the floor area is raised and surrounded by a wood railing.
The kitchen is centrally located so as to provide easy access to all of the facilities. Finish includes linoleum flooring, wall panels and an acoustic tile T-bar ceiling. Lighting is by fluorescent fixtures. All of the kitchen equipment is made by Quest and is stainless steel. Some of the equipment includes a griddle and cook top, recently purchased, deep fryers, woks, an automatic dish washing system, and a walk in cooler and a walk in freezer. The cook top area is equipped with a fire suppression system.
The laundry room houses two washing machines and two commercial dryers. Finish includes linoleum flooring, prefinished wall panels, and an acoustic tile T-bar ceiling.
Water is provided by one 100 gallon electric storage tank and one 100 gallon Aero storage tank and a McLaren Boiler with heat exchangers. Power is 3 phase, 600 Amp service. The entire building is equipped with fire alarms, smoke detectors, and a dry sprinkler system.
